MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

A man was taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle wreck in McCracken County Friday, according to the sheriff's department.

The wreck happened around 5:05 p.m. Friday in the 6400 block of Kentucky Dam Road.

Deputies say 62-year-old William Burns of Benton, Kentucky, was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Eastbound on Kentucky Damn Road when he was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet van trying to merge into traffic from the emergency lane. Burns then exited the left side of the road, hit an embankment, and his vehicle overturned.

The van was driven by 53-year-old Juan Sanitago of Paducah. A passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Davonte Conner of Paducah, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries deputies describe as "non-incapacitating." Burns and Sanitago were not injured.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Reidland-Farley Fire Department and Mercy Regional EMS.
