MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

A Paducah woman was arrested after a deputy stopped to help her.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says at midnight a deputy saw a SUV on the side of the road with its hazard lights on.

The deputy stopped to help and talked with the driver, 33-year-old Melissa Byrne.

The deputy says Byrne appeared very nervous and that she gave a fake name.

Through a consent search of the SUV, the deputy found a plastic baggie containing one gram of methamphetamine, several paraphernalia items, a plastic baggie containing marijuana, and a glass pipe containing drug residue.

Byrne was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 2nd offense (Methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia x3, possession of marijuana, and giving officer false name or address.

She was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
