In McCracken County, some people were forced to evacuate their homes Wednesday due to storms.
Crews evacuated around 20 homes. They said with a gas leak caused by a downed tree and lightning still in the area, they didn't want to risk anyone's safety.
Jason English lives right around the corner with his three kids.
He said he was home when the winds came through. When he heard and smelled the gas leaking, he says it was an uneasy feeling.
"I'm scared for my kids, what if lightning (struck)?" he said.
It's quiet now; you can't hear the gas leaking. That's because crews were able to shut off the gas, and people are now filing back to their homes.
Crews say they plan to monitor the gas line for the next couple of days.
