Crews painting along I-24 starting July 8

Posted: Updated:

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a contractor plans to place traffic striping on highways across the 12 counties of District 1 starting on Friday.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says the contractor will first place 6 inch-wide, white and yellow lines along Interstate 24 from the Ohio River Bridge at mile point 0.0 extending east to the Trigg County-Christian County Line at mile point 69.8. The contractor will make several passes east and west to paint the pavement.

Todd says drivers should be prepared for a slow-moving work caravan that will include a paint truck and several support vehicles, and avoid driving across fresh paint when near the work crew.

Once the contractor completes traffic striping operations along I-24, the crew will move to other highways across the district.  The crew will be on the road during the day anytime weather allows for the next couple of months.
