Fiscal Court: McCracken County not picking up storm debris on private property
By Staff report
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -
You may have spent the weekend cutting up downed trees and limbs from last week's storms. In fact, piles of cut up debris sitting near the curb is a familiar site in our area.
However, during Monday's McCracken County Fiscal Court meeting it was discussed that the county is only clearing right-of-ways and not picking up debris on private land or homes.
Judge Executive Bob Leeper thanked those associated with responding to storm-related emergencies at the meeting as well.
"We appreciate everybody that served our citizens and did their job, sheriff's department and your group, and all the first responders, DES, everybody," Leeper said. "Appreciate it very much."
It's not clear the exact cost of overtime pay for county workers to clean up debris, but on Monday commissioners learned employees have worked an average of at least 8 hours of overtime each since last Wednesday.
