Troopers for Kentucky State Police received a pay raise on Monday.
The pay raises are a part of the new state budget and part of the new permanent pay scale for KSP.
The new pay scale establishes specific pay rates for each rank based on years of service.
KSP Commissioner Rick Sander says that before the pay scale, veteran troopers were compensated the same as newly commissioned troopers.
Lyon County Judge Executive Wade White, who fought to get troopers pay raises, said, "I am so pleased to see that the legislature and Governor Bevin were able to do the right thing for our Kentucky State Police and provide a major increase in pay after ten years of no increases. From the very beginning of our campaign to see this happen, the support across the state was overwhelming. I'm glad to see these raises take place and thankful for the service to our state by the Kentucky State Police."
