PADUCAH, KY -

Paducah police say they're looking for a man charged with first degree robbery and first degree fleeing police.

Officers say 26-year-old Benjamin Comer is accused of trying to take more than $1,200 worth of items from the south side Wal-Mart in Paducah before pulling a gun on a man who tried to stop him.

A store manager told police Comer left the store with two full shopping carts without paying. Police say the manager followed Comer and asked him to stop, but he cursed at her and continued into the parking lot.

Police say a customer saw what has happening and tried to stop Comer. They say the customer told them Comer put some of the items into a car before pulling a pistol from the floorboard and pointing it at the customer. They say Comer drove off after that.

Officers say they found the car driving north on North 8th Street and tried to stop it, but the vehicle fled across the Brookport Bridge into Illinois. Paducah police say the car was found by Illinois authorities in a ditch.

The Massac County Sheriff's Office says Comer is the same man the Illinois State Police is searching for in Massac County

If you have information on Comer's location, you can call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 443-TELL. To leave a  tip online, click here.
