Back to School - Students gain access to health clinics

Posted: Updated:
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Many kids are heading back to school today and that includes McCracken County students.

One of the biggest issues this year, keeping students healthy.

That's why all McCracken County students now have access to school-based health clinics.

Baptist Health Paducah is partnering up with both Paducah and McCracken County schools to offer the clinics.

The goal is to improve the overall health of students and the community by offering several services.

"We offer health care and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. If something seems a little more complicated, we'll refer them to their primary car provider or pediatrician," said Nurse Practitioner Michelle Wilson.

Wilson says the clinics are a big convenience for parents who may have a difficult time getting away from work to take a child to the doctor.

The clinics can call in prescriptions and students don't need an appointment, they're walk-in.
