PADUCAH, KY -

New equipment is on the way to help you in an emergency.

Paducah city commissioners introduced an ordinance to fund the remaining fee for consulting services for the local E911 center and to authorize a contract with Federal Engineering Inc.

Funds for the first half of the consulting fee — $126,086 — were approved in December. On Aug. 16, commission members will vote on approval of the second half, as well as the contract with Federal Engineering. Once approved, city spokeswoman

Pam Spencer says Federal will provide services including planning, design, and implementation assistance for the replacement of the radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch system. Spencer notes that the current E911 equipment is "in critical need of replacement."
