Company responds to complaints of smell from pet food plant

PADUCAH, KY -

A statement has been released by the company who owns a Paducah plant that has a reputation for emitting a strong smell.

Neighbors near the Dar Pro plant at 1350 North 10th Street says there is a strong odor coming from the plant and they want the company to lessen the smell.

The plant, owned by Darling Ingredients Inc., makes pet food ingredients.

Darling Ingredients, Inc. says in a statement that the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection has visited the site in response to public complaints and found no compliance issues.

The company did say it has experienced some start up issues and is working to resolve them.

The statement also says Darling officials will meet with City officials to discuss the issues.

Mayor Gayle Kaler has confirmed that city and Darling employees with be taking part in a private meeting on Wednesday.
