Two people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 45 in McCracken County Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff's department.

McCracken County deputies say the wreck happened around 4:08 p.m. at the intersection with Lebanon Church Road. They say 75-year-old Karen Lawson of Paducah was headed eastbound on Lovelaceville Florence Station Road West in a 2004 Toyota Highlander when she stopped at the intersection with U.S. 45. She then crossed the southbound lanes of U.S. 45 and entered the median crossing before continuing to the northbound lanes.

Deputies say as Lawson crossed the northbound lanes, she didn't notice an approaching 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 22-year-old Leslye Choate of Mayfield, which hit her Highlander. Both vehicles left the right hand side of U.S. 45 and ended up in a ditch.

Lawson and 59-year-old Sena Cooper of Paducah, who was a passenger in the Highlander, were taken to Lourdes hospital for injuries deputies describe as non-incapacitating.

Neither Choate or her passenger, 52-year-old Elizabeth Choate of Mayfield, were injured.

Mercy Regional EMS and the Lone Oak Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
