Kentucky social service workers to receive pay increases

Posted: Updated:

Kentucky social service workers are about to receive salary increases.
The Courier-Journal reports that officials with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services announced on Monday that the pay raises will take effect Sept. 16.
The changes will apply to about 3,765 social service and family support workers across Kentucky. The changes will also create a "career ladder" to increase pay for workers who want to move up in their area of expertise. This is the first major pay increase for state social service workers since 2008.
Top supervisors who have reached the maximum pay level will not receive raises.
Secretary of the cabinet Vickie Yates Brown Glisson says the salary increases will be covered with $4.8 million that Gov. Matt Bevin had included in the state's two-year budget.
