A Tennessee man was arrested in Paducah early Friday morning after he ran away during a traffic stop and hid in a nearby building.

The Paducah Police Department says around 1:31 a.m. an officer pulled over a car on North 10th Street and talked with the driver.

The officer then went back to his cruiser to get more information on the driver.

When the officer looked up he saw the driver get out of the car and run down 10th Street.

The officer chased after him but lost sight of him around Monroe Street.

Another officer and his K9 partner started tracking down the driver and found him hiding inside a garage behind a business on Jefferson Street.

The driver, 26-year-old Mario Allen of Paris, Tennessee, was arrested. He had a bag of marijuana in his possession. Officers also learned he was charged in a felony warrant from Paris, Tennessee.

Allen was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, possession of marijuana, second-degree fleeing or evading police, not having his license in possession, and as a fugitive from justice in Tennessee.

He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
