Herrin police to host bocce tournament for new K9 program

HERRIN, IL. -

Herrin, Illinois, police are holding a Bocce tournament this fall as a fundraiser to create a K9 program, the police department announced Friday.

Police say the program will include a new dog, training for the handler, maintenance and housing for the dog, and other related expenses. The first year of the program is expected to cost around $30,000 in the first year. 

The tournament will be held Oct. 29 at the HerrinFesta Italiana Bocce Courts. A time has not yet been announced, but a website has been set up. To view that, click here.
