A local convention and visitors bureau director has been appointed to a national commission.
The Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau says its executive director, Mary Hammond, has been appointed to serve as a representative of state and local interests to the U.S. National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The commission is an advisory committee to the U.S. government and provides advice on U.S. interests in educational, scientific, cultural, and communications issues at UNESCO.
Paducah was admitted to UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network as a City of Crafts & Folk Art in November 2013.
Hammond will serve as a representative through December 2018.
