Fundraiser scheduled for family of man killed in wreck

MAYFIELD, Ky. -

An event has been scheduled in Mayfield to raise money for the family of a man who lost his life in a wreck earlier this month.

Shane Heflin's body was found in a pickup truck in a ravine on U.S. 51 between Wickliffe and the U.S. 51 Ohio River "Cairo" Bridge in early August. Now, a chili supper and silent auction followed by a concert has been scheduled to benefit his wife and two children.

Even Coordinator Robin Steele says the event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 at Mayfield High School, and tickets are $10 each. After the auction, there will be a concert by The Midlife Crisis Band. Steele says Heflin's wife, LeeAnn, is a youth services coordinator for Mayfield City Schools, and their two sons, Jackson and Sawyer, are both Mayfield students.

The tickets for the event will be available through the school and at the door. If you can't attend but still want to donate, Steele says you can visit a GoFundMe page set up for the fundraiser.
