Three arrested on drug charges during traffic stop

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Three people were arrested Thursday on drug charges during a traffic stop.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says deputies pulled over a car around 3:00 a.m.

The driver, 24-year-old Theodore Brockman of Paducah, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI.

The car owner and passenger, 42-year-old Peter Gonzales of Marion, Illinois, was found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

A third passenger, 19-year-old Candice Overby of Paducah, was asked to exit the car. Deputies saw a glass pipe protruding from her shirt and when they asked if she had anything else illegal she said she had two baggies of methamphetamine in her shorts.

Several other unused baggies were located in the car. Deputies say Brockman and Overby were both involved in trafficking methamphetamine.

All three were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail. Each was charged with the following.

Theodore Brockman:
One headlight
Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs- 1st offense
No registration plates
Failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense
Trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense methamphetamine
Drug paraphernalia

Candice Overby:
Trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense methamphetamine
Drug paraphernalia

Peter Gonzales:
Possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
Promoting contraband- 1st degree
Drug paraphernalia
