Centerstone clients beat police in bocce

Posted: Updated:

People are came together Friday for a friendly but competitive game of bocce ball in Herrin, Illinois, for the 16th Annual John R. Adams Memorial Bocce Tournament.

Some of Centerstone’s clients took on members of law enforcement from Marion and Carbondale in a game. For the second year in a row, the Centerstone team won.

Brent Austen from West Frankfort has been using Centerstone services after a car crash left him with a head injury. Brent says it’s a lot of fun to play, but it’s a great feeling when you win.

"It was pretty good. It was pretty darn good. I'm not getting too conceited, am I?" Brent joked.

All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the services Brent and other Centerstone clients use every day. Centerstone serves roughly 14,000 people in southern Illinois every year.
