MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

A man was arrested in McCracken County Tuesday after the sheriff's department says he led detectives on a short pursuit in his truck.

The sheriff's department says detectives with its drug department saw 45-year-old Jeffery Houser driving a pickup truck on Jackson Street in Paducah. The detectives recognized Houser, the sheriff's department says, because there were outstanding felony arrest warrants for him.

Detectives tried to stop Houser at the intersection of Old Mayfield and Berger Road, the sheriff's department says, but he didn't stop and drove off in his pickup truck. Detectives pursued the truck until Houser stopped on Wellington Circle in McCracken County.

Houser was arrested on warrants charging theft and probation violation. The sheriff's department says he was on probation regarding an arrest on a charge that he engaged in organized crime. The sheriff's department says he was sentenced to 17 years in 2010 in McCracken County.

He was also charged with fleeing or evading police.

After he was arrested, Houser was jailed in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
