Women arrested on drug charges in connection with prostitution investigation

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Two women were arrested in connection with a prostitution investigation in McCracken County.

On Wednesday, detectives began an investigation into alleged prostitution by a woman from northwest Tennessee.

A detective talked to a woman on the phone and by text who went by the name of Riley. She agreed to travel to Reidland to meet with the detective.

Around 4:00 p.m. the woman arrived in a car driven by another woman.

The driver, 39-year-old Melanie N. Jones of Jackson, Tennessee, had fake Tennessee registration and did not have insurance on the car.

During a search of the car, detectives found heroin, heroin paraphernalia, and prescription medication.

Detectives say Jones and her passenger, 28-year-old Kristy Wingham of Brookport, Illinois, also had track marks on their arms from syringe use.

Both women were arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Wingham was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substance 3rd degree.

Jones was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance 3rd, no insurance, no operator's license, and no registration.
