Fiscal court grants tax exemption for Jackson House, WB Sanders Apartments
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -
The Jackson House and WB Sanders Apartments will stay tax-exempt for the next five years, McCracken County leaders decided Monday.
The McCracken County Fiscal Court approved the property owners' request ahead of major renovations.
In September, Jackson House manager Shannon Tutor told Local 6 the tax exemption would leave money for renovations such as upgrading the air conditioning and heating from a two-pipe system to a four-pipe system, which will allow residents to decide for themselves whether to use heating or cooling. The current system is either hot return or cold return depending on the season, so residents can't turn heat on when the system is set to cold.
Tutor said the renovations have no additional cost for the people who live there.
Paducah city commissioners approved the tax exemption last week.
