Police seek man suspected of supplying forged checks at local banks

PADUCAH, KY -

Paducah police are looking for a man they say is believed to have supplied forged checks for other people to cash.

Police say the man appears to be the common denominator between two separate incidents of people trying to pass forged checks in Paducah in the past several days. On Saturday, two people from Knoxville, Tennessee, were arrested in Paducah after allegedly trying to cash a forged check for $1,985.43 at Community Financial Services Bank on Park Avenue. On Wednesday, police were notified that a man tried to cash a forged check for $1,489.67 at a Paducah Bank branch. That man left the bank after it seized the suspicious check.

Police released a surveillance photo on Tuesday of a man they say is believed to have supplied the forged checks and provided transportation to the people who allegedly tried to cash them. They also released a photo of a van he is believed to have used to take people to banks to try to cash the checks.

The Paducah Police Department notes that state police are also investigating similar forgery incidents in west Kentucky, and that area financial institutions are advised to be extremely cautious when cashing checks.

If you have information about the man’s identity or where he is, you can call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 443-TELL.
