WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL -

A man was taken to an area hospital after state police say he was seriously injured in a wreck involving two tractor-trailers Monday in Williamson County, Illinois.

The Illinois State Police says a tractor-trailer driven by 65-year-old Nikola Gligorevic was following another tractor-trailer driven by 59-year-old Scott Magnuson of Pinckney, Michigan, southbound on Interstate 57 at milepost 51 around 3:01 p.m. Monday. When Magnuson's semi slowed because of traffic congestion, ISP says Gilgorevic was unable to stop in time and hit the rear of Magnuson's semi.

Gilgorevic was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center by Williamson County Ambulance Service for treatment of major injuries. Magnuson was uninjured, troopers say.

The right-hand lane of I-57 was shut down for about two and a half hours because of the wreck.

In addition to troopers and ambulance workers, the Willamson County Fire Department responded to the scene of the wreck.
