Here are six things to know for today.

Millions of social security recipients and federal retirees will get less than a one percent cost of living adjustment next year. The small increase will add up to $4 extra a month.

Family and friends will gather to say goodbye to former McCracken County Judge Executive Van Newberry today. He died last Thursday in a bike crash in West Paducah. Newberry's visitation is from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Carson Center. The funeral is also at the Carson Center and will start at 7:00 p.m.

A hit and run in Murphysboro is under investigation. Jackson County Sheriff's deputies say an SUV ran off the road and crashed into a home in the 1500 block of West Harrison Road Monday night. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office.

A meeting about next year's solar eclipse is happening today. You can learn more by going to the Carbondale Civic Center from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The eclipse happens on August 21 of next year.
