PADUCAH, Ky -

One of Paducah's floodwall murals is changing after researchers have discovered new structures on Illinois's Kincaid Mounds.

Artists have redone parts of the Kincaid Mounds mural to reflect those historic findings.

Mural artist Herb Roe has been working on the murals for years. He explained what is new to the specific painting that was redone. "Generally the layout is the same," he said. "The shapes of the mounds are slightly different. We were able to be more specific with the shapes and sizes."

"The Kincaid Mounds mural, when we painted it originally in 2003 2004, they hadn't actually worked at the site since just before World War II," explained Roe. He said, with the new findings, he can be more precise with his artwork.

Structure size, shape, and placement on the mural were shifted.

"This large circular structure on this big mound they did not know about, and it is kind of a rare find," said Roe.

The new findings have given us a more accurate view of what our history looked like.
