Paducah Middle School celebrates new building
PADUCAH, Ky. - The old Paducah Middle School is a mass of bricks, wood and twisted metal. It sits as a reminder of years past. But a brand new school serves as the place to make new memories.
The buses pulled up for the first time Monday morning. Both students and parents gushed over the new building and the opportunities it will bring.
Along with the new building comes more space, lockers with built-in combination locks and newer technology in the classrooms.
Principal Stacey Overlin says enrollment is about 685 students. He expects that number to increase to 700 by the end of the week.
Meanwhile, the rubble at the site of the old school is expected to be gone by November. The area will then become a parking lot and a bus drop-off area.
