Damage: No real damage to building structures. Damage primarily to unanchored mobile homes, shrubbery, and trees. Some damage to poorly constructed signs. Some coastal road flooding and minor pier damage.

Event: Heavy rains; 14 inches of rainfall in the mountains, 7.96 inches in downtown LA. Severe local flooding with damaging mud slides. Said to be the worst since 1934.

Place: Florida
Year: 1985
Event: Hurricane Kate made landfall at Mexico Beach. This is the latest know hurricane to hit the U.S. so far north.
