My Son, My Hero

Christmas is not the same without my son

Why I would want my Hero home for the Christmas Holidays.

As I heard about this contest I hesitated writing, because what mother, father, loved one of a soldier would not want them home for the holiday season?

I began thinking of what I could write about my son (Leon Warner) and how much I miss Leon, and how concerned I am for not only his safety, but the others who are in harms way. I thought of how proud I am of him and all he has done to commit his life to serve our country.

I also thought of the years I raised Leon on my own and the traditions we started to share, and will miss out on this year, but my thoughts turned to other reasons that would make this Christmas even more special to have him home.

This past September Leon married Misty the girl he had been dating for three years, and I thought of how special it would have been to see them as newlyweds being able to share the holiday season together and creating their own family traditions. Leon has always loved Christmas and I know he looks forward to celebrating Christmas with Misty as her husband.

Other thoughts came to me about Leon and Misty as they are expecting their first child in March of next year. (He will still be deployed at this time)We are all very excited for the new addition to our family but I can’t help to think how wonderful it would have been for them to have this time to start out their relationship.

Even though I can’t be with Leon for this Christmas I am looking forward to him coming home, along with the others that have sacrificed so much for our freedoms here so we can enjoy all that this wonderful Season has to offer.

Thank you for thinking of the military families, and for our Heroes so far away.
Merry Christmas
