When I was attending Ballard Memorial high school all the way back in 92, we had an exchange student from Australia. His name was Howard Cartney and we hit it off and dated for about 6 months while he was here. As teenagers do, we broke up and he went back to Australia without any sort of reconciliation between us. I tried to find him several times over the years to no avail. Then, in 2005, while looking at classmates.com, I saw his name. I immediately joined just so I could email him. He was thrilled to hear from me. It happened that he was about to leave on a 6 month back packing trip across Europe, Asia and the United States and we made plans for him to visit me. After a great visit and lots of catching up, he went back to Australia. He came back to visit me here in the states several more times and then on Valentine's Day in 2009 he ask me to marry him and I said, "yes!". We are now living our happily ever after here on a farm in Barlow, thankful for all of the ups and downs that made us into the people that we are now and very happy that we were able to find each other after all those years.
