Quite a bit has happened to us in the past year. The years feel like a blur as they fly by. I suppose it all started in January of 2009. I was a Paducah, KY resident (and graduate of Lone Oak High School) attending Mid-Continent University in my senior year and last semester of college. I signed up for a Shakespeare class. Halfway through the semester (in March), I noticed the boy from across the room staring at me frequently. You'd think that would be creepy, but I didn't mind, he was cute. In the Two Gentlemen of Verona (the play), Dr. Mason had us read for romantic leads, and I didn't mind that either. The boy from my class was from Southern Illinois (Vienna). I found out his name was Zach Garrett after Dr. Mason sent around a sign up sheet to go see a play in Murray, KY. Zach stared at me on the bus the whole way to Murray, and Dr. Mason noticed it too. The next day, Zach and I were both at school sick. I took Zach to the nurse's office to get cough drops and afterwards, he asked me if I wanted to hang out sometime. I said, "Let's see a movie Friday." Friday, March 6th, 2009 was our first date. By March 9th, we were in a relationship. Finally, on May 16th, 2009 at my college graduation afterparty, Zach asked me to marry him. He had asked my father's permission first and everything. Zach and I moved to Lexington where we both got jobs to save up for a wedding and travel. In June of 2010, we had intended to go to England to see the Shakespeare sites of Stratford. But after all the planes were full, we spontaneously decided to take a plane to Paris, France. After a day in Paris, we took the train through the English Channel to London and spent the next week backpacking from hostel to hostel exploring England. It wasn't long after we got back to America that August 14, 2010 came along. We were married at Heritage Baptist Church in Lexington, KY and took a road trip to Florida for our honeymoon. Marriage wasn't the only change. We decided to go back to our West Kentucky home and live in Murray, KY. I have a job at Land Between the Lakes at the Homeplace and he is a Graduate Assistant at Murray State University. We pray together, travel together, and love watching movies and going to restaurants. This Friday, I am having surgery to have my gall bladder removed at Western Baptist Hospital at 8:30 a.m. Zach will be there by my side. I know I will spend much of this weekend in bed recovering from surgery, but I'm still hoping for a sweet Valentine's date with my sweet husband.
