In November 2009 my mom went from teaching high school to having triple bypass surgery. During the surgery, she had a stroke and did not come out of the anthesia as expected. She was on a ventilator for a month and for the next several months she climbed an uphill battle to recover and rehabilitate. By March 2010 she was walking and talking and almost back to her vibrant, feisty self. Having grown up with my mother's wisdom and sacrifice, years of selfless decisions and great spiritual leadership... Seeing her go through this was heartbreaking; however, seeing her fight to recover was a miracle.
In February 2011, as her grown children (4) and grandchildren (11) watched, she walked me down the aisle at my wedding...to the timeless hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness.
