Local Fishermen Hurt at Smithland

This morning 2 local commercial fisherman were injured in the back water near Smithland, KY when they came in contact with a live transmission wire that had fallen into the water due to a tree. Eddie Hook of Grandrivers attempted to remove the wire from beneath the boat when he received a severe shock and was knocked out of the boat. The other fisherman quickly retrieved him from the water and received a shock as well. Mr. Hook was transported to Lourdes Hospital with severe burns to the hands and upper extremities. He was then life flighted out of Lourdes to Vanderbilt Burn Center. He is currently in stable condition. The other fisherman was treated and released.
