5th Grade Boys from Calvert Elem helping to sandbag in Calvert City 5/3/11

5th Graders Reach Out

Today 15 5th grade boys from Calvert Elementary went out into the community to give back. They helped load hundreds of sandbags onto trailers to move to help protect homes along Arizona Street in Calvert City.
I, Denae Shelton, the art teacher at Calvert Elementary, wanted to show the students a way we could help out in our community with the flood devastation. I wish we could have taken the whole school, but chose to start with 5th grade boys. We even had several more that wanted to help, but forgot their boots!
I was so proud of each and every one of them. They were even talking about coming back after school was out to continue helping. That is what it is all about...everyone coming together to help each other out!
