Graves Band marches into Ky Sweet 16

The Pride of Graves County Marching Band has qualified for the state high school semifinals for the third time in school history. The band performed in competition Oct. 22 in Hopkinsville at the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s State Marching Band Competition 5A West Regional Quarterfinals. Graves County placed seventh among the 13 bands competing, qualifying for the KMEA SMBC 5A Semifinals in Bowling Green. Graves County has qualified for semifinals three of the last five years and will perform at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Western Kentucky University. Of the 16 bands competing then, the top four will move on to compete in the finals that same evening. This marching competition has been compared to Kentucky’s Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament. Pictured here are band members performing this year's show "Looks Like Rain." The band is directed by Jeff Williams with assistant directors Craig Fuqua and Ellis Shelby.
