Celebrating learning

Graves school leadership celebrates KCCT

Graves County Schools’ central office administrators hosted school principals in a meal and celebration recently for the district’s and individual schools’ success on last spring’s Kentucky Core Content Test, after results were announced this fall. The district has ranked in the top 7.5 percent of Kentucky’s 174 school districts since 2004. For the second straight year, the district has ranked among the top 5 percent statewide and No. 9 in Kentucky academics. Board member Donnie Reed, left, is shown speaking as fellow board members Kelly Whitaker and Kevin Curtsinger listen. He said that while the scores are very worthy of celebration, their real meaning is in the high levels of teaching and learning that are taking place in the Graves County Schools. Reed said he was speaking not as a board member, but as a parent when he told the gathering of educators, “I want to thank you for educating my children and giving them an advantage in college, work, and adult life.”
