The Pride of Graves County Marching Band for the third time in four years, and only the third time in school history, qualified for the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s State Marching Band Championship Semi-Finals. The Graves County band placed seventh of the 13 Class 5A West bands that competed at the Hopkinsville Quarter-finals for the honor of moving on to the State Marching Band Semi-finals at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green Oct. 29. The Graves County Band placed 14th among Class 5A bands that competed. It was the band’s highest placement to date and an honor simply to perform in Kentucky marching bands’ Sweet 16. Pictured here is the band preparing to perform its 2011 show “Looks Like Rain.” The Graves County Band is directed by Jeff Williams, along with assistants Craig Fuqua and Ellis Shelby.
