Graves County High School Band member Robert Cagle auditioned on mellophone in Indianapolis, Ind., recently and was selected to join the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. The Blue Stars organization seeks to become a world leader in the marching arts arena, especially in the areas of members' character development and performance excellence. Their recent successes culminated with the corps’ placing 11th in World Class competition in 2011. In 2012, the Blue Stars will continue to compete in World Class competition and will travel thousands of miles throughout the United States. Cagle has performed on trumpet for more than seven years and on French horn for three years. He credits his musical success to his first music teacher, Stephenie Wheeler, at Sedalia Elementary, and to his band directors at GCHS. Liz Coltharp of Mayfield is his mother.
