Graves County High School freshman Morgan Elliott recently accepted a prestigious 2011 “Yes, I Can! Award” at the Galt House in Louisville from the Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children. He was one of only eight students in the Commonwealth so honored. The Yes I Can! Awards highlight the achievements of children and youth with disabilities who excel in academics, arts, athletics, school and community activities, self-advocacy, technology, and transition. Elliott was cited for his athletic accomplishments in Special Olympics competition. “We’re very proud of Morgan,” said his teacher, Miranda Barnett. “He has worked hard and accomplished so much, but more than anything else, he’s a great young man and all of us who know him are better for it!” Several Graves County Schools’ faculty members congratulated Elliott at the conference.
