Sedalia Elementary students presented “North Pole Christmas” to a packed gymnasium twice in one day just before Christmas break. Teacher Carol Ann Phillips wrote it and music teacher Stephenie Wheeler (seen at right) directed it. Performing here are third and fourth graders. The program was designed to honor teacher Gail Howard, now in her last year before retirement of 27 years teaching – all at Sedalia. She portrayed herself in the play at home with her children, portrayed by a few of her students. “North Pole Christmas” also told the story of elves exhausted from working throughout the busy season and having trouble finding Santa Claus. They finally realized he was trying to lose some weight before his long Christmas Eve ride and was working out on the TV show "The Biggest Loser." Thankfully, Santa makes it back in time for the big night and the story has a happy ending.
