Symsonia Elementary School fifth grader Lane Howell recently spent the day in Frankfort as an honorary page in the House of Representatives, serving as state Rep. Fred Nesler’s assistant. Spending most of his time in the House, Lane also met state Rep. Will Corsey and Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo. Lane ended the day by visiting the Senate and met state Senator Ken Winters (R-Murray). Rep. Nesler (D-Murray) offered the opportunity when he met Lane on a field trip to the state capital last year. Lane says he is very grateful for the chance to observe the processes of state government firsthand, and believes it will be a lifelong memory. He hopes that understanding more about how laws are made and passed will help him with his ambition to be a law enforcement officer someday.
