Graves County bowlers excelled at the 2012 Region 1 Kentucky High School Bowling Tournament the second weekend of March at Bowling Green's Crescent Lanes. Graves County sophomore Kelsey Latta won the individual regional championship, defeating Graves County eighth grader Katie Cathey, who was runner-up. Graves County’s Sarah Watts also qualified for state competition by finishing in fourth place. Graves County’s Austin Dunn qualified for state competition by finishing fourth in regional boys’ competition. He lost by just one point, 225-224, in the step ladder tournament of the top five seeds. Graves County’s Nathan Hackel, who was the 2011 Kentucky state champion, just missed qualifying for state competition this year, by finishing fifth at the regional tournament.
