Graves County Middle School students listen to Dr. Tim Jones of the Mayfield Veterinary Clinic talk about his career, as part of Operation Preparation, College/Career Readiness Advising Week. The Kentucky Department of Education and other statewide organizations are encouraging the commonwealth’s middle and high schools to offer students career chats to help students focus on potential careers based on their aptitudes and interests. Graves County Middle School principal Andy Williams explained, “Operation Preparation seems like a great idea to really put kids in touch with people who work in their career fields, rather than just studying about them on a computer or hearing about careers from their teachers. I think it’s a whole lot more effective when it comes from a professional involved in that occupation.”
