9 year old catches first BIG BASS!

I took my 9 year old son fishing for his first time at a local farm pond earlier this week that I was sure we would catch some bluegill in. Not long after after we wet our first line, Jack had caught his first bass, then a little blugegill, then a bass, well he caught one more little bluegill and I told to him to slow down his retrive. He was fishing a Bluegill bug that we picked up at Benson's sporting goods that featured a black body with chartrueuse whiskers on a Shakespeare Ugly Stick Youth Combo Spinning reel with only 6 lbs. test line. He slowed his retrieve down and I told him to reel the slack out and as he slowly tightened his line.....the ugly stick bent like never before and his reel's drag started screaming, he yelled "DAD WHAT DO I DO?" I told him to keep his rod bent and to fight the fish. The water was real clear and we had seen some catfish cruising by the dock when we got there so he starts screaming, "ITS A CATFISH, I KNOW IT, THIS THINGS HUGE!!!" So as he's fighting it, it starts getting closer and closer and we can start to see something, and it was bright so right away i told him it wasn't a catfish, then it went straight up and jumped and we saw it and he screamed even louder. I was so scared this big bass was going to spit that little lure out and he would be gone, but Jack kept fighting and I leaned over the dock and yanked this big guy up and we both started jumping and screaming. I dont know who was more excited, him or me but I know I couldnt have been more proud seeing his first experience with the sport I love so much be such a memorable one. We didnt have a scale with us, but I think it was pretty good for a 9 year olds first trip fishing. We caught plenty more blugegill and bass that evening, but I believe the world of fishing just gained another angler!
