Presidents Day brings 2 greats to Wingo

REALLY? YOU’RE READING OFF AN ENVELOPE? – Wingo Elementary School students hosted two of America’s greatest Presidents recently in honor of Presidents’ Day 2013. Adam Jones, left, portrayed Abraham Lincoln while his brother, Andrew Jones, played George Washington. The two are Wingo alumni and their mother, Tana Jones, is director of the school’s family resource center. They visited classrooms and informed students with facts about the Presidents while also refuting myths. Lincoln said he was the tallest Chief Executive at 6-feet, 4-inches, and the first to sport a beard. Washington denied having wooden teeth and told students his formal education ended with elementary school. Students also learned that Lincoln was born less than a decade after Washington died. Washington’s service as the first President concluded 64 years before Lincoln took office as the 16th President.
