Graves County Central Elementary School will host a health fair with free gifts, door prizes, and food in its gymnasium between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. At the same time, Central will host parent/teacher conferences, a Red Cross blood drive, and a special event called “Shop ‘Til You Drop.” Health fair participants include a number of local organizations. The Graves County Health Department will offer materials on tobacco education and cervical cancer. Graves County Child Advocacy will discuss building healthy relationships. The Kentucky Delta Rural Project will focus on dental hygiene. The Mayfield Police Department will address drug safety. The Hope Center will provide literature on healthy relationships and sexual abstinence. Lourdes Hospital will enlighten visitors on the need and benefits of keeping hands clean. The Kentucky Cancer Program will present ideas on smoking prevention and will offer a dermascan. The Marshall County Health Department will discuss child car safety seats. The American Red Cross will discuss disaster preparedness. Mayfield Family Eye Care will provide free basic eye exams. McAdoo Chiropractic will offer chair massages. The Graves County Schools’ Food Services Department will offer healthy snacks.
