Graves High JROTC wins first competition

Graves County High School’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program recently competed in its first-ever competition, during its first year of operation. Graves County Team 1 won the competition and Team 2 finished third, competing with eight other JROTC teams from five other high schools. Both teams are pictured here. GCHS Cadet Tristen Turner earned the highest physical fitness score among more than 90 cadets who participated. “That’s not bad, considering that these other schools have had established programs for decades in some cases,” said Lt. Col. Jason Caldwell Jr., Ret., who leads the Graves County JROTC program of more than 100 students. He concluded, “…We’re in our first year and we’ll only get better as we get more events under our belts.”
