The Graves County boys' golf team won the Paducah Invitational Tournament over the weekend at Paxton Park and Lance Davis, 69 (2 under par), claimed the tournament medalist award as the low round for the day. Davis finished with 6 birdies and 4 bogies. He finished the front side at three under par with a short birdie putt on ninth hole. The back side was a little more difficult as he finished at 1 over par. However, a birdie on the eighteenth hole preserved the one stroke win. Justin Roberts, 73 (1 over par), finished sixth. Roberts finished the front side at one under par with two birdies and a bogey. The back side seemed to play harder for all the boys as Roberts finished two over par on the second nine. Other scores were Hayden Cash 75, Blake Thomas 84, Ty Wilson 85. The team score of 301 was four strokes better than runner-up Marshall County and seven strokes better than McCracken County. Graves County defended their title with clutch putting and consistent play throughout the rain soaked seven hour round. Highlights of the tournament are back to back birdies for Wilson and Thomas late in the match. Also, Cash and Roberts carded chip-in birdies of their own.
