Graves Eagle Foundation supports schools

The mission of the Graves County High School Eagle Foundation is to serve as an advocate for facility development and the educational, athletic, and student activities at Graves County High School. We seek to celebrate student and athletic achievement, to enhance alumni involvement, to promote wellness among students and our community, and to inspire philanthropic contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
The Graves County High School Eagle Foundation is aligned with the Graves County High School strategic or master plan. The Graves County School Board shall exercise final approval of any project affecting any school property or any of the School campuses.
The Graves County High School Eagle Foundation will provide periodic updates of accomplishments at Graves County School System Board of Education meetings.
Successful Past Events include speaking events featuring Tim Tebow, A&E’s Duck Dynasty (in partnership with New Pathways), and Peyton Manning.
These events translated into financial success. We have approximately $158,000 in hand,
$100,000 committed to the Track Improvement Project. We have made improvements to cafeteria at GCHS, assisted with hosting a summer camp for incoming Graves County Middle School students, and through the events we have held have indirectly made other investments at GCHS.
Financial reporting and accounting have been transferred to Romaine and Associates. Due to our financial success and the amount of funds we are now responsible for we determined it was in the organization’s best interest to establish a formal accounting relationship.
The Eagle Foundation’s future plans and vision included working with the Graves County School District’s superintendent, the Graves County High School principal, the Graves County Middle School principal, and the facility superintendent to identify projects for current and future investment of Eagle Foundation.
That includes re-evaluation of the current track proposal. The question is where can our $100,000 best be invested to assist with the overall academic, athletic, and facility needs of the main campus?
Future plans and vision include growth in membership of the Eagle Foundation, sustaining the vision, establishing working committees within the Eagle Foundation, utilizing a facility/project committee to work with the Graves County Schools Facility Plan Committee to identify projects. Other ideas include an event committee to identify and plan events, an alumni development committee to work toward increasing membership, and a finance committee.
All these committees would be chaired by foundation board members, and would include foundation members as committee members.
Future plans and vision also include continuing to host the annual event “Night with a Champion” to promote the Eagle Foundation, with the focus on bringing in high-caliber speakers who display outstanding character, Christian values, and leadership, and to serve as role models for the students of the Graves County Schools.
