Construction Career Day@MSU4high schools

MSU engineering technology professor Danny Claiborne (left), chair of the university’s department of industrial and engineering technology, and Chris Nelson, executive director of the Associated General Contractors of Western Kentucky Construction Association, led the Third Annual Construction Career Day at Murray State University’s Expo Center Sept. 19. Other participating organizations included the Regional Outreach Council of MSU, West Kentucky Community and Technical College, the Paducah Area Construction Advancement Foundation, McKeel Equipment Company, Pinnacle Inc., Jim Smith Contracting Company, and a number of other vendors. “We’re trying to connect the dots between the [high school] students and the construction industry,” Nelson explained. Claiborne added, “…We want to communicate to the entire region how we need to continue to grow and develop our students for these kinds of jobs.”
