Humane Society Holds Bazaar & Bake Sale

The Humane Society’s Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale is Sat.., Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Calloway County Public Library Community Room. The Society counts on proceeds from the bazaar to help support its many programs that assist animals in the community.

Many wonderful items will be for sale: baked goods of all sorts, homemade pet treats, jellies, jams and salsa, a variety of crafts, stuffed animals, ornaments, birdhouses and feeders, ceramics, needlework, etc. If you are an artist, we welcome your woodwork, stained glass items, paintings, etc.

“The Society’s bazaar and bake sale has always been one of the best in Murray,” says Humane Society Executive Director Kathy Hodge. “People look forward to it all year. They create handcrafted items, bake and find attic treasures to donate.”
“The generosity of our members and supporters make the bazaar a success,” Hodge explained. “We depend completely on donors to provide wonderful things to sell!”

The Humane Society’s full-color, high-quality 2014 Pet Photo Calendar will go on sale for only $10 each at the Bazaar. The calendar is a perfect gift for friends and family that will help the animals, too.

“If you have a special talent for cooking or making crafts, we appreciate donations of baked goods, handmade items or nice gift items,” Hodge said. Donations will be accepted at the library between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.

Some special items will be chosen and marked with “Buy It Now” prices at the bazaar. If they are not sold at the bazaar, they will be placed on our online auction later in the month.
To volunteer on Nov. 8 or Nov. 8 or get information about donating items to the bazaar, contact the Humane Society at 270-759-1884 or email or visit the office at 607 Poplar Street Suite A-1 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Proceeds of the Bazaar support the Society’s ongoing programs including Animal Assistance which provides basic food, housing, veterinary care and other emergency measures for animals in crisis and Fixed for Life, a spay/neuter program, which helps support affordable spays or neuters to pets of those who qualify.
